Hispanic Heritage Month takes place each year from September 15 to October 15, commemorating the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans. With celebrations of all shapes and sizes across the U.S., this Hispanic Heritage Month is a great time to engage students in learning and discussion about the contributions and history of Hispanic Americans and Latinx people. Latino Lorain History Project: This incredible project provides access to archives, educational materials and more, centered around the history of Latinos and Hispanics in Lorain, Ohio. Though the focus of this project is Lorain, they have a wealth of resources that can still be utilized by educators throughout Ohio.
Oral Narratives of Latin@s in Ohio (ONLO): This statewide initiative has gathered dozens of oral narratives of Latinos across the state and preserved them. This is a great resource for students to hear about the varied and powerful experiences of Latinx people in Ohio.
