Paul B. Graham, Chair
Paul has over 32 years of experience with the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he led the Cultural Resource Management program from 1997 to 2011, ensuring compliance with Section 106 and NEPA. Since 2012, he has worked as a consultant in cultural resource management and historic preservation. Paul has served on the Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board since 2010 and is also a board member of the Great Circle Alliance.
Timothy G. Anderson, Member
Tim Anderson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Ohio University where he has taught courses in cultural and historical geography since 1996. His research focuses on the documentation and analysis of regional cultural landscapes in Ohio produced during the state’s earliest settlement period, the assessment of regional cultural landscapes in the United States, and the production of cultural landscapes associated with Germanic diasporic movements and communities. He has a long-standing interest in material culture, especially folk architecture. He received a Fulbright Fellowship in 2014 for research on Danube Swabian landscapes and communities in western Romania and co-editor of Settling Ohio: First Peoples and Beyond (Ohio University Press, 2023).
Rachel E. Bankowitz, Member
Appointed to the OHSPAB in 2018, Ms. Bankowitz has over 20 years of historic preservation experience and holds a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. She has authored over 150 architecture/history survey reports and managed complex projects such as the Detroit River International Crossing Study. As a Preservation Planner for the City of Dayton, she oversaw preservation permits, designated 25+ buildings to the Dayton Register, and initiated programs like the City Historic Landmark Plaque Program. She now works as a USAF contractor at Wright-Patterson AFB and continues consulting in preservation, with her most recent work resulting in the 2024 National Register of Historic Places listing of the Capri Drive-In Theater in Coldwater, MI.
Clyde Henry, Member
Clyde is an architect specializing in historic structures and a founding partner of TRIAD Architects and National Engineering. He has contributed to significant redevelopment projects and currently serves on the Historic Resources Commission for the City of Columbus. Clyde’s work has earned accolades such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation Award and the AIA/OSBA Design for Excellence Award. A published author and lecturer, he has shared his expertise on preservation with organizations like the National Trust and the American Institute of Architects.
Amy Kramb, Member
Amy is an architectural historian with over twenty-seven years of experience. She has an undergraduate degree in history and anthropology with a focus in archaeology. Ms. Kramb owns and operates Kramb Consulting LLC, which provides historic preservation and environmental planning services often required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Ms. Kramb is also a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio and is an elected council member for the City of Dublin, Ohio. Ms. Kramb has served continuously as a professional member of the Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board since March of 2014.
Mitchell L. Schumacher, Member
Mick serves as Monroe County Commissioner, where he has been instrumental in advancing infrastructure projects such as securing funding for water and sewer improvements, revitalizing senior and veteran services, and leading the restoration of the Historic Knowlton Covered Bridge. With over 28 years of experience at Conalco/Ormet, a major aluminum producer in the region, he brings strong leadership to his role. Mick is also deeply committed to historic preservation, demonstrated by his work with the Monroe Arts Council and the Monroe County Historical Society. His efforts include restoring the Monroe Theatre and championing local cultural and educational initiatives.
Dr. Stuart D. Hobbs, Vice Chair
Stuart is the Director of Education and Training at The Ohio State University's Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). He holds a Ph.D. in American History from Ohio State University and has a background in historical research and education. For ten years, Stuart was an Historian with the Ohio History Connection and wrote the successful National Historic Landmark application for the Thomas Worthington Home, Adena, in Chillicothe. Outside of academia, Dr. Hobbs is an accomplished artist known for his abstract paintings, which explore color relationships and convey a contemplative quality, contributing to Columbus's cultural and intellectual community.
Stephen C. Gordon, Member
Stephen Gordon holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in history from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. With over 45 years in historic preservation, he has overseen the Ohio Historic Inventory and National Register of Historic Places programs at the Ohio History Connection. From 2006 to 2023, he served as curator of the McGuffey House and Museum. An expert on regional architecture and cultural landscapes, Stephen has authored numerous publications, including How to Complete the Ohio Historic Inventory (1992), and co-authored over 50 National Register nominations.
Sandra C. Hull, Member
Sandra began her preservation journey in Quincy, IL, where she helped save the Governor John Wood Mansion and co-founded "Quincy Preserves." After moving to Wooster, Ohio, in 1986, she served as Executive Director of Main Street Wooster, Inc. for 32 years, leading the successful revitalization of downtown Wooster. Sandra also co-founded Heritage Ohio, Inc., representing preservation efforts statewide. Her dedication has earned her awards like Main Street Manager of the Year and Preservation Hero. She currently serves as Advisor Emeritus for the National Trust for Historic Preservation and as a board member of the OHSPAB.
Beth Johnson, Member
Beth has been the Executive Director of Cincinnati Preservation since 2022 came to Cincinnati Preservation from her position as the Urban Conservator for the City of Cincinnati, a position she held for more than six years. She has also worked in preservation and planning for the City of Covington, KY as well the cities of San Antonio and Austin, TX. She is a graduate of Ball State University where she received degrees in urban planning and history with a minor in historic preservation. She received her master’s degree in historic preservation planning from Cornell.
Elizabeth Corbin Murphy, Member
Elizabeth consults with building owners and architects regarding state and federal rehabilitation tax credits, design and adaptive use of historic structures, detailed restoration specifications, historic interiors, and design guidelines for historic urban centers. As past chair of the AIA National Historic Resources Committee, Elizabeth is a strong advocate for architecture and preservation of the built environment. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and guiding younger architects, having invested 27 years as Professor of Practice in the College of Architecture & Environmental Design at Kent State University, in addition to her professional practice. Elizabeth is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and recipient of the AIA Ohio Gold Medal.
Doreen N. Uhas-Sauer, Member
Doreen is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in European/American history, literature, and political science. She chose to teach in Columbus City Schools for 38. For two decades, she collaborated with faculty from The Ohio State, Bowling Green, and Sage College in Eastern Europe on international civic education and directed the Annenberg Civic Education Initiative. She received an Emmy from WOSU for a student project Fort Hayes documenting neighborhoods. A past Ohio Teacher of the Year, she serves on the boards of Green Lawn Cemetery and the Rickenbacker/Woods Foundation and is involved with the America 250 Committee’s Under Told Stories initiative. Additionally, she works with the Columbus Metropolitan Library on place-based storytelling through neighborhood walking tours.
Nathaniel B. Kaelin, Member
Nathaniel leads economic development for Fairfield, Ohio, a city of 45,000 residents and 1,200 businesses in the Cincinnati region. He previously managed tax incentives and urban revitalization programs at the Ohio Department of Development and advanced infrastructure projects at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. Nathaniel holds a B.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from Miami University and a Master’s in City & Regional Planning from Ohio State. He is an EDFP, OhioCED, AICP-certified planner, and a 2019 Leadership Ohio graduate.
Daniel M. Rice, Member
Daniel is President and CEO of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving and developing the Ohio & Erie National Heritage Canalway. Since 1994, he has partnered with over 150 organizations and raised over $75 million for projects like the 101-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Under his leadership, the coalition spearheads Akron’s Reimagining the Civic Commons, a $40 million initiative improving public spaces and fostering community engagement. He has overseen over 500 community gatherings, engaging 5,000 residents and leveraging $40 million in investments for parks and trails.
Logan York, Member
Logan is the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and a citizen of the Tribe. Growing up in Kansas and Missouri, Logan regularly attended tribal events, stomp dances, and language camps. He has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Anthropology with minors in History and Archaeology. Logan came to work for the Tribe in April of 2022 after previously working for Rebecca Hawkins, the consulting archaeologist for the Miami Tribe. As THPO, he is part of the Cultural Resources Office team that is located in the Miami ancestral homelands.
