Certificate of Listing

Ohio's Designated Properties Convey Our Shared and Irreplaceable Heritage

Ohio properties listed individually or contributing to a historic district in the National Register of Historic Places are eligible to purchase a certificate of listing to display.

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation offers grants that provide funding for markers and plaques to commemorate public properties and historic districts listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the foundation's website for additional information.

National Register Certificates

Each certificate lists the property address or historic name, historic district name if applicable, listing date, and the criteria under which the building, district, structure or site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Ohio’s State Historic Preservation Officer signs each customized certificate. Certificates come in two sizes, framed or unframed, printed on archive-quality parchment. Frames are available in gold or black metal with clear glass and sturdy backing. Please allow 4-6 weeks for standard shipping or choose rush shipping for an additional cost.

The State Historic Preservation Office does not provide plaques or markers; however, below are links to some commercial firms that manufacture plaques. This is not a complete list. The list is provided with the understanding that the Ohio History Connection, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) does not recommend, endorse or assume responsibility for these products or the quality of the work.
