CELEBRATING OHIO’S STATE ARTIFACT

Today at the Ohio History Center we gathered to celebrate the designation of the Adena Effigy Pipe as Ohio’s State Artifact! We celebrated the pipe itself, a masterpiece of ancient North American stone carving, and the accomplishment of the teachers and students of the Columbus School for Girls as well as the legislative sponsors of the bill. Our heartfelt thanks to Charlotte Stiverson, Tracy Kessler and all their students who worked on this project over the past several years! And to Representatives Mike Duffey and John Carney and Senator Frank LaRose for their support! One highlight of the program was the showing of this video of Governor Kasich signing the bill — with a little help!
