Fort Laurens excavations are still underway and you still have time to be part of history. Over this past weekend, children of all ages (6 to 70 years) were out in the sunshine volunteering with Ohio Valley Archaeology, Inc. as they excavated the ditch that surrounded the northeastern bastion of the original fort. Artifacts collected include musket balls, nails, a knife blade, and even projectile points from Indian cultures that predate the forts construction. If you would like to be an archaeologist for a day or even an hour, you still have until Tuesday, July 15th. Bring your water and sunscreen, because it is warm out there. Kellie L. Rogers
