ANCIENT OHIO TRAIL

ANCIENT OHIO TRAIL

A MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR OF OHIO’S ANCIENT EARTHWORKS

The Center for the Electronic Reconstruction of Historical and Archaeological Sites, or CERHAS, is working with the Ohio Historical Society, Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, and other partners to develop a comprehensive resource for visitors wishing to experience the incredible legacy of Ohio’s ancient American Indian cultures.

Half travel guide and half online encyclopedia, the Ancient Ohio Trail will offer suggested routes to visit major earthwork sites along with images and information about what you’ll see when you get there. It will even give you suggestions about great places to eat and stay overnight while you’re visiting the sites!

We hope to have this resource available in time to help welcome the surge of visitors to Ohio once the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks and Serpent Mound are nominated and, we hope, added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Until then, there’s no reason why you can’t take advantage of everything the website already has to offer!

Here’s the link to get started: http://www.ancientohiotrail.org/

Remember it’s still under development and CERHAS will be adding new features and new information all the time, so come back often!

I’ll hope to see you along the Ancient Ohio Trail!
