UNESCO World Heritage Inscription Commemoration Week

Please join us and commemorate the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Fort Ancient Open House

October 7-8 (Sat.-Sun.)

Oregonia, OH

Take a tour of Fort Ancient during the open house. Tours and programs every 90 minutes. Guests can also explore the Interpretive garden open  with our master gardeners. Children’s activities will be available. Museum and grounds open as normal. At 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 8, there will be commemoration ceremony. Admission will be free to Fort Ancient on both Saturday and Sunday.

  

Hopewell Culture National Historical Park Commemoration Ceremony

October 14 (Sat.)

Chillicothe, OH

Commemorate inscription at the Hopewell Culture National Historical Park. Starting at 10 a.m., National Park Service rangers will offer free programming on the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks. The official commemoration will begin at 1 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to park at Unioto High School. Buses will be available to shuttle visitors into the park from the high school.

 

Newark Earthworks Open House

October 15 (Sun.)

Newark, OH

Join us in commemorating the Newark Earthworks as part of the eight Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks sites, which were recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage list! We have a full day of interpretive and educational programming planned, including panel talks, tours and more. All events will take place at the Great Circle, except for the Octagon tours.
