Join Archaeologist Jeff Gill as he leads you on a walking tour along side streets, across train tracks, and in parking lots as, borrowing from the words of Ephraim Squier and Edwin Davis in Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley, you trace the ancient lines of the Newark Earthworks at intervals, among gardens and outhouses. In this three-hour walking tour you will explore the "lost" remnants of the once 4.5 square mile Newark Earthworks complex that are hidden in plain sight in the city of Newark.

The tour will cover roughly 3 miles beginning and ending at the Great Circle Museum. Please dress for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. No preregistration required.

While this program is free of cost, donations are encouraged to support education and public programs at the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks!
