The Dayton Metro Library, in collaboration with the National Afro-American Museum and cultural Center, presents Freed Will: The Randolph Freedpeople from Slavery to Settlement. The exhibition will be on display at the Main Branch of the Dayton Metro Library from January 16 – March 1, 2024.

In one of the largest emancipations in American history, nearly 400 formerly enslaved people journeyed from Charlotte County, Virginia to Ohio’s Miami Valley. The NAAMCC created this traveling exhibit to tell the story of the Randolph Freed People. Using three-dimensional objects from the NAAMCC collections, visitors will explore the family history from freedom, their grueling pilgrimage, legal battles, and community building into the present day.

The exhibition is located in the Main Branch of the Dayton Metro Library, 215 E. Third St., Dayton, OH 45402. The Main Library hours are- Mon, Tue, Thu: 9:30am – 8:30pm | Wed, Fri, Sat: 9:30am – 6pm | Sunday: 1 – 5pm. Call 937-463-2665 for more information.
