Inspired by the highly anticipated solar eclipse, “Manifestation of Light: Exploring the Shakers’ Celestial Inspiration” delves into Shaker artwork, writing, and culture inspired by the sun, moon, and stars. From gift drawings to poetry to dance, the Shakers’ relationship with celestial light and cosmic geometry is grounded in real-world skills and references, providing a captivating intersection of the heavens and earth.
“Manifestation of Light” opens March 8 from 6-8pm in our first floor gallery in conjunction with “Luminous Botanica” in our second floor Lissauer Gallery. Light food and drink will be provided.
“Manifestation of Light” is made possible in part by Ohio Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities and will be on view through August 11, 2024.
