Attention military history buffs and those interested in miniature games: Join the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society, Great Lakes Chapter for an afternoon of tabletop miniatures gaming at the Ohio History Center! Learn about battles important to the history of Ohio and put yourself in command. Ask yourself if you would have done anything differently if you were in the general’s shoes and see how your battle plans work out!
If you can’t make it this time, no worries. We will have another scenario to play the first Sunday of next month!
Sun. Nov. 2, starting at Noon:
"Those are Regulars, by God!"
Setting: War of 1812, Niagara frontier
Rules: All the King's Men
Scale: 54mm
Table Size: 6'x15'
Chippawa, Ontario, July 5th, 1814: After the disasters of 1812 and 1813 along the Niagara frontier, the Americans have spent the winter and spring rebuilding and training a new army that can take on the British in a toe-to-toe fight! Ohioans played a large part in forming these new United States regular infantry regiments. While none were entirely Ohioans, the 1st, 17th, 19th and 27th had large components of Ohioans. Ohio provided 1,759 officers and 24,521 men between all units during the War of 1812, whether regular or militia.
Come play with the BIG BOYS! The figures used are 54mm scale (about 2 1/4” high) using "All the King's Men" rules. Easy-to-learn and play as well as kid-friendly (with a little help if really young). See if you can push the British back toward Niagara Falls or the Americans back to Fort Erie and Buffalo.
