OHIO’S HOPEWELL LEGACY IS EVERYWHERE!

Phil Wanyerka’s guest blog on the image of the Hopewell mica hand showing up in the Cleveland Arcade reminded me of when I had a similar encounter at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Scattered across the lawn between the buildings is a five-piece sculpture entitled Vault. It was installed in 2006, but I have been unable, so far, to find out much more about it.vault 2

The next time you’re in downtown Columbus, check it out. See how many other ancient American Indian icons you can find referenced in the sculpture!

And anytime you come across a similar “Hopewellian-Revival” work of art send us a picture and we’ll post it on the blog!vault 3
