About the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks

Masterpieces of human creative genius, the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks are gigantic earthen enclosures built by American Indians 2,000 years ago. They were places of ceremony connected to the cosmos by alignments to key risings and settings of the moon and sun.

On September 19, 2023, the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks were officially inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage list. This is the beginning of a new chapter, and we need your support. Your gift will go directly to the area of greatest need for the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks. You will be supporting the daily operations, preservation, educational programs and more.
