Author Ann Hagedorn will discuss a few myths and truths about the networks of daring women and men, Black and white, who worked in the Underground Railroad throughout Ohio. Since the publication of Beyond the River, Hagedorn has given numerous lectures nationwide based on its themes, spreading the word about the importance of Ohio in the abolitionists’ crusade to end slavery. In “Trust and Teamwork,” she will share some lessons learned through the years of exploring the Underground Railroad, and she may reveal some details about her next book, which will focus on the moral brilliance of the female abolitionists.

Ann Hagedorn is a former staff writer for The Wall Street Journal and an award-winning author of six narrative nonfiction books that embrace a broad range of topics and have been widely reviewed. After living in New York City for two decades, she now writes her books in a small town on the Ohio River, which she discovered while researching her third book, Beyond the River: The Untold Story of the Heroes of the Underground Railroad.
