Tour the historic Carey House, one of the oldest brick homes still standing in Sidney. Built in 1848 for Cephas Carey, an early Shelby County pioneer and Justice of the Peace, this Greek Revival residence sits atop a high stone foundation and retains its original recessed doorway. A porch modification in 1895 gave the home its distinctive turn-of-the-century appearance. Located within today’s Walnut Avenue Historic District, the Carey House is rarely open to the public. Join us to learn about the home’s architecture, history, and the people who shaped the community, while enjoying a unique opportunity to step inside this remarkable piece of local heritage.
