Join Senior World Heritage Archaeologist, Brad Lepper, at the Octagon of the Newark Earthworks on the third Friday of every month for a guided tour of this incredible site! Explore the precision and complex geometry of the Octagon that makes clear the ingenuity of Indigenous peoples during the Hopewell Cultural Period. Observe the connection to earth, sky and water that is embodied in the construction of this sacred site and provides clues to its importance as a place of gathering and celebration. Finally, delve into the complex history of the Octagon and be a part of the beginning of a new chapter here at this truly amazing site!
Tours will be conducted at 2 p.m. To join the group, meet at the Octagon Visitor Center. The tour will depart from the front of the building.
Third Friday tours will be conducted rain or shine between the months of March–November.
While the tour is FREE of cost, donations are encouraged to support education and public programs at the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks!
