Plan your visit two of Hicksville’s most significant historic landmarks. The Hicks Land Office (1840) and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (consecrated in 1875). The Land Office is among the best-preserved of its kind in Ohio and played a vital role in the early settlement of northwest Ohio, serving as the site where more than 140,000 acres were sold to incoming settlers, shaping the region’s development from forested frontier to productive farmland.

Just steps away, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church reflects the vision of town founder Alfred P. Edgerton and was designed in the Carpenter Gothic style, then consecrated in October 1875. Built as a place of worship for the Edgerton family and the community, the church retains many original features, including stained glass, wood interiors, and historic furnishings.

Today, both buildings are carefully preserved by the Hicksville Historical Society and serve as custodians of the village’s heritage, housing collections of documents, photographs, and artifacts that illustrate the story of early settlement and community life in northwest Ohio.
