Did you know that Ohio used to be home to unusual animals such as a rodent the size of a black bear, the enigmatic dire wolf and a huge bear that was the largest land carnivore of the Pleistocene? Learn about the variety of interesting mammals that lived in the state at the end of the last Ice Age, many of which are now extinct. On display will be actual fossils and casts of species such as the mastodon, mammoth, giant beaver and dire wolf.

This program is part of Ohio Outdoors: Exploring Ohio’s Natural Resources, June's theme during America 250-Ohio's celebration of our state's heritage.
