Celebrate Juneteenth with a live, hands-on crafting workshop at NAAMCC! Dr. Renee Wormack-Keels will trace the history of quilts created by enslaved African Americans to 21st-century art quilts. Wormack-Keels is a Columbus fiber and mixed media artist who uses materials, threads, fibers, and other mediums to create social, historical and memorial quilts. She is the founder and visionary of the charitable non-profit Quilting Beyond Borders, a program based in the Caribbean islands that provides opportunities for women living there to learn creative arts for market.
During the workshop, participants will create a quilt block using African textiles and hand-dyed fabrics. The workshop is included with museum admission.
Visit the NAAMCC, located at 1350 Brush Row Rd., Wilberforce, Wed. – Sat. 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. This program included with museum admission: $6/adult, $5/senior, $3/ages 6–17, Free/Ohio History Connection & NAAMCC members. For more information, visit ohiohistory.org/naamcc or email [email protected].
