Celebrate Juneteenth with a live, hands-on crafting workshop at NAAMCC! Dr. Renee Wormack-Keels will trace the history of quilts created by enslaved African Americans to 21st-century art quilts. Wormack-Keels is a Columbus fiber and mixed media artist who uses materials, threads, fibers, and other mediums to create social, historical, memorial quilts. She is the founder and visionary of the charitable non-profit Quilting Beyond Borders, a program based in the Caribbean islands that provides opportunities for women living there to learn creative arts for market.

During the workshop, participants will create a quilt block using African textiles and hand-dyed fabrics. The workshop is included with museum admission.

Visit the NAAMCC, located at 1350 Brush Row Rd., Wilberforce, Wed. – Sat. 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. This program included with museum admission: $6/adult, $5/senior, $3/ages 6–17, Free/Ohio History Connection & NAAMCC members. For more information, visit ohiohistory.org/naamcc or email [email protected].
