Step inside the recently restored 1883 Morvilius Opera House and discover a rare surviving community theater from Ohio’s post-Civil War era. Located above historic commercial storefronts in downtown Fort Recovery, the opera house once served as a center for entertainment, graduations, lectures, and community gatherings.

Visitors will learn about the building’s history and the extensive restoration effort that returned this landmark to active use while preserving its historic character. Guided tours will highlight the opera house’s remarkable collection of original theatrical scenery, including rare nineteenth-century stage flats and life-sized murals painted by artists of the 1880s. Preservation experts have identified the scenery as among the finest surviving collections of its kind in the United States. times, and visitors are also welcome to explore the two-story building through self-guided tours.
