Embark on a fascinating journey through African American history and culture with a special excursion to the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center (NAAMCC) on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
A Curator-Led Exhibit Tour includes:
- African Art: Form, Function, and Fraught Histories
- African Americans Fighting for a Double Victory
- Queens of the Heartland
- Rhythm of Revolution: The Transformative Power of Black Art, 1619 to the Present
- Trailblazers of Innovation: African American Inventors Who Changed America!
Cost: $35 per adult/$15 for Franklin County Genealogical & Historical Society members
Ticket includes:
Round-trip transportation from Columbus, museum admission and a box lunch at the museum.
Registration deadline is Tuesday, July 15 at Noon.
Trip schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Arrive at the Ohio History Center, 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus.
9:00 a.m. - Leave Ohio History Center for Wilberforce.
10:15 a.m. - Arrive at the National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center at for a curator-led museum tour.
11:30 a.m. - Break for lunch.
- The FCGS group will break for lunch and have a workshop led by Cecelia McFadden, the president of the group in the NAAMCC administrative office in the Carnegie Library.
- The FCGS group will tour the collections and archives, including a brief overview of how we create finding aids for the archives.
- The non-FCGS members will have their box lunch with our curator and participate in our museum scavenger hunts! Two winners will receive a free 13-month Ohio History Connection/National Afro-American Museum Family Membership.
2:30 pm - The group will leave to return to Columbus by 3:30 p.m.
