Usually available by appointment only, the Elizabeth Harvey Free Black School is open as a part of the Harveysburg Historic Fall Fest on September 19 from noon – 4 pm. Part of the Quaker Scenic Byway, the school was established in 1831 to educate African American children. It remained in operation as a school until the early 20th century.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the headquarters of the Harveysburg Community Historical Society. At the event, you can also learn of the historical society’s plans for its new interpretive center.
