Join a curator-guided exhibition tour of Celebrating 250 Years: A Journey Through America with Robert Freimark, hosted by Otterbein University’s Frank Museum of Art, a historical building nestled in the heart of Uptown Westerville, one block east of Java Central. Tours begin at 6:05p and 7:05p; guests can join at any point and are also free to explore on their own. Between 1960 and 1968, artist Robert Freimark created Fifty States, a suite of abstract, full-sheet color screen prints representing each of the 50 United States. The series was selected as the official US Bicentennial presentation at the 1976 opening of the Amerika Haus in Munich and has since been exhibited internationally. To make this collection, Freimark traveled around the country. He drew from his own experiences as well as extensive research into the history of each state to create a unique, multilayered print.

The Frank Museum is the former “church house” of Lillian Frank, who taught at Otterbein for twenty-nine years. With the help of her husband Paul, Lillian converted the former Salem Evangelical Church, built in 1877, to their residence in 1956. The building was given to Otterbein upon Lillian’s death in 1999 for the express purpose of creating a museum to house the college’s collection. It opened in Winter 2004.
