Fort Laurens Museum is hosting a pioneer candle dipping class with the experts from Midwest Native Skills Institute on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the workshop, participants will learn the time-honored technique of candle dipping, dating back to ancient Egypt, and experiment with different dipping methods, colors and textures.
Participants will also learn about other types of candle making methods, such as metal and silicon molded candles, as well as selection correct wick diameters, calculating “sent loads” for candle wax and wax additives that give candles unique textures and designs.
The class is suitable for candle-makers of all skillsets. Limited spaces are available for the workshop. Preregistration is required by Sept. 18. Please call 330-874-3011, extension 205, to pre-register.
Participants must be 16 years old or older. Cost for the workshop is $20 per person and covers all necessary materials. The total cost for the class is due at time of registry. The workshop is non-refundable.
All proceeds will go towards the preservation and educational efforts of Fort Laurens.
