Step inside one of the area’s earliest log churches and experience a remarkable piece of Ohio history. Constructed in 1850 from trees harvested on the property, this historic church has stood for more than 175 years. Supported on stone piers rather than a traditional foundation, the building retains many of its original features, including historic pews, a pulpit, old German-language Bibles, and a functioning pump organ.

Although regular services ended in 1905, the church continues its long tradition of hosting an annual worship service. Visitors will enjoy hearing traditional hymns accompanied by the pump organ, a presentation on the church’s history by a trustee whose family has deep ties to the congregation, and a service led by a local Lutheran pastor. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to explore the historic cemetery and view photographs documenting the church’s past. Following the service, refreshments will be served on the lawn.

Learn how this rare surviving log church has been preserved through generations of community stewardship and remains an enduring link to the region’s early settlement and religious heritage.
