Archaeology Staff Assists with Salvaging History

Ohio History Connection archaeology staff has been assisting the Heartland Earthworks Conservancy in the recovery of information from a mostly destroyed small mound in Chillicothe.

On the HEC Facebook page, Dr. Jarrod Burks expresses his thanks to the developer, Guernsey Crossing, LLC, for allowing us to investigate the remains of this important ancient monument!

Check out this video posted on the Chillicothe Gazette website, which conveys some of the challenges and rewards of this winter dig!

That’s our own Kellie Locke-Rogers featured in the video!

Follow the HEC Facebook page for the latest developments in the investigation.

The excavations begin at the site of the North Bridge Street Mound.
