The Union County Historical Society will display seldom seen items from the county’s early history at the museum at 246 W. Sixth Street, Marysville, on Saturday, September 20, 2026, from 1-4 pm. This is a free event. We recently acquired an Erb surrey, made in Milford Center, by the L. F. Erb Carriage Works. The surrey was donated in 2025 by the Phillip P. and Theda Yost Clemans Family.

In addition, we will have a collection of guns made in Union County, including by John Lash, who located in Marysville around 1850. Another was made by William Grauman, who was known for his Plains rifle. Another rifle was made in Leesburg Township by Israel Phipps. Rounding out the collection is an F. L. Moffit who made guns in York Township and Richwood, Also, we will have items from Col. Noah Orr, Marysville”s giant, who was 8 ft 3 in tall and 550 lbs. He joined the circus as his profession.
