Come visit one of Ohio’s historic schoolhouses, rich with African American history! Rumley, Ohio was a thriving African American community in the heart of Shelby County; the land having first been surveyed by Amos Evans in 1837 and continued to grow, becoming a stop for stagecoaches between Lima and Piqua. Though the town has faded over time, the one room schoolhouse and church still stand as reminders of a once beautiful community in the county.
