The Log Cabin Cookout is a community gathering that was started in the 1960s and has become very popular. A menu of food of early settlers is served to nearly 100 people. Volunteers dress in period costume during the afternoon and evening portraying various characters related to Highland County history.

Guided tours of the Museum are open to visitors while characters point out interesting pieces of our collection. A scavenger hunt for children and adults adds to the excitement of finding artifacts in the Museum. As this year marks the 25th anniversary of 9-11, first responders from the police and fire departments will speak to this solemn observance. Activities.
