Visit the Ashton House Museum and explore one of the community’s historic homes while learning about the people and stories that shaped the nation’s founding era. Museum Curator Helen Skinner will present “Betsy Ross & the American Flag: Fact vs. Fiction,” examining the life of Betsy Ross and other notable women of the American Revolution, including Sybil Ludington, Deborah Sampson, and Molly Pitcher.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the museum and learn about the history and preservation of the Ashton House while exploring its exhibits and collections. The program will provide insight into how historical myths and legends developed around some of the Revolution’s most recognizable figures and how historians separate fact from fiction. Light refreshments will be served, and visitors are encouraged to wear Revolutionary-era attire or come dressed as Betsy Ross for this family-friendly event.
