Join us September 19, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the Owensville Historical Society Museum will host Warmth & Memory: Quilts from Our Region, a focused quilt display created for Ohio Open Doors. We will be featuring pieces from the museum’s collection as well as quilts shared by area makers. The display highlights the practical skill, creativity, and everyday life reflected in quilts made across our region. Visitors will also be able to explore a Quilt Pattern Wall, which introduces several American quilt patterns.
Guests are invited to participate in a hands-on stitching activity, where they can learn a few basic stitches. This activity is beginner-friendly. Our quilt display and activities provide a welcoming experience that connects visitors to the craft and history of quilting in our region.
The museum building itself was once the home of the Pattison family. It’s most notable member (to date) was John Pattison, the 43rd governor of Ohio in 1906 (sadly, he died in office). The house was built around 1865 and became the Owensville Historical Society Museum around the time of Ohio’s Bicentennial in 2003.
