Step inside one of Avon Lake’s oldest treasures during this rare open house at the Peter Miller House Museum. Built about 1830 by Peter and Ruth Miller, the home is one of the first frame houses on the Avon Township lakeshore and one of the last remaining pre-Civil War lakefront houses in Lorain County. Visitors can explore the restored historic home, imagine life for Avon Lake’s early settlers, and see how local volunteers helped preserve this landmark for future generations. After your visit, stroll the surrounding Civic Gardens, including the heirloom Fence Garden, pioneer-inspired Herb Garden, and nearby Wildflower Garden. Perfect for families, history lovers, gardeners, and anyone curious about Avon Lake’s roots. Historic house conditions may include stairs, uneven surfaces, and limited accessibility.
