On September 19, the Scioto County Heritage Museum invites you to an Open Doors event showcasing plans for the renovation and expansion of its headquarters at 623 Market Street in Portsmouth.
Housed within a pair of historic buildings that reflect the character of Portsmouth’s traditional downtown fabric, the museum’s future home is undergoing a careful restoration that balances preservation with new functionality. The project includes exterior masonry repairs, accessibility improvements, and sensitively designed additions that will support expanded exhibits and programming while honoring the site’s historic integrity.
Guided by a mission to preserve Scioto County’s past while bringing it into the future through education, restoration, and community engagement, the museum is transforming these structures into a dynamic space for collecting, interpreting, and sharing local history.
