Explore three of Kent’s most iconic historic homes. Visit Wolcott Lilac Gardens, a charming 1863 Gothic Revival home, the Marvin Kent Home (Masonic Temple), and the Patton House, home of the historic Kent Coterie. Enjoy an afternoon of architecture, gardens, and local history.
Built in 1902 as the residence of W.W. Patton—Kent’s former postmaster and superintendent of schools—the Patton House remains a proud symbol of community heritage. Following Emma Patton’s death in 1939, the home was entrusted to the Kent Coterie, a women’s organization founded in 1896 as a “circle of friends.” For generations, its members have preserved the home as both a gathering place and a landmark, standing gracefully at the western entrance to downtown Kent.
