A unique way to celebrate July 4: an eighteen-gun salute from the artillery batteries at Fort Meigs.
Staff and volunteers dressed in historic military uniform recreate the Independence Day celebrations that actually took place at Fort Meigs during the War of 1812. 18 toasts, 18 songs and 18 shots from the fort's heavy guns—one for each state in the nation during the war. History tours and musket competition complete a full day of programming.
