We receive a lot of requests about historic preservation grant opportunities, so we've compiled the list below. It's not exhaustive, and not all opportunities may apply to your project, but it's a start:
- Grants for owners of historic homes? We're sorry there are no grants or historic preservation tax credit programs that we know of for individual owners of historic homes. We would be happy to be wrong about that! If you learn of such an opportunity, please share it with us.
Most grant opportunities noted here are for nonprofit organizations and publicly funded entities such as schools, libraries, or units of county or local government. History and preservation-related grants for for-profit businesses are not as common.
To qualify for many preservation grants or historic tax credits, a property must be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Click here for more information about listing.
- Cemetery Grants, Ohio Department of Commerce: Grants are made to active cemeteries on a first come first serve basis until funding is exhausted. Application opens on July 1 annually.
- Community Foundations courtesy the Grantsmanship Center
