HOPEWELL CEREMONIAL EARTHWORKS VISITED BY WORLD HERITAGE EXPERTS

icahm newsThe latest issue of ICAHM News includes an article on the latest efforts to have Ohio’s Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. ICAHM is the International Scientific Committee on Archaeological Heritage Management. This group “advises ICOMOS and the World Heritage Committee on matters that pertain to all aspects of the management of archaeological sites and landscapes.” As you will learn when you read the article, although we’re probably a few years away from submitting a nomination, “the members of ICAHM, several of whom have already devoted time and effort to this project, have pledged to continue to provide resources and expertise to guide this important nomination to successful, perpetual preservation and management.” Having the support of these experts will be important as we move forward through the nomination process.
