Enjoy ice cream and great music in a variety of genres on the lawn of the historic Hayes Home, whose verandah serves as the stage for the performers.
Concerts take place twice a month on Wednesday evenings. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets and choose their favorite spot on the expansive and shady lawn in front of the home. An old-fashioned ice cream social starts at 6:30 p.m., and music starts at 8.
Admission is free. Donations are accepted for ice cream but not required. If there are thunderstorms on concert night, the event will be canceled. Updates will be available at 419.332.2081 and rbhayes.org.
The schedule is as follows, and performers are to be announced:
June 10: Fostoria Community Band, playing concert band music;
June 24: All Strung Out, playing vocal heavy acoustic music
July 8: Polish American Concert Band, playing American marches and traditional Polish music
July 22: Bridge County Bluegrass Band, playing bluegrass music
Aug. 5: Terra Brass Choir, playing brass instruments
Aug. 19: North Coast Big Band, playing the toe-tapping tunes of the World War II era
Verandah Concerts are sponsored by Fremont Federal Credit Union.
