If these walls could talk! The Doellinger-Geer log home stood on Weaver Road, south of Marysville, in the German Settlement for almost 175 of its estimated nearly 200 years of existence. It remained in the family from the time Stephen Doellinger purchased the property in 1852, later transferring it to his son-in-law and daughter John and Mary Geer.

In 2023, the cabin was donated to St. John’s Lutheran Church, to be deconstructed, repaired, and rebuilt on the church campus 2.5 miles away “as the crow files.” What discoveries were made during the moving process? How have family remembrances added to the story of its rich history? How did the newly-adopted 2024 Ohio “Existing Building Code” make this move possible? Family members will share their memories and mementos, a photo display will illustrate the stages of the moving process, and the cabin will be open to explore.

Additional Considerations:
Parking is available at the Heritage House (former parsonage). The cabin is a short walk through a mowed grass area with some uneven ground. Since it is not yet complete, the cabin is not considered handicap accessible due to a step onto the porch and another into the cabin. A steep, narrow staircase leads to the upstairs.
