The Meeker Homestead dates to 1817. The house, built in 1823, and the barn, from 1848, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During our Ohio Open Doors event, you can see how we preserve and now use the house as a museum and archives of Delaware County’s history. In the barn, you’ll see how we transformed it into a popular events center while preserving its historic character.

Have your grandkids or children ever asked what life was like in the 1900s? Have they used a rotary phone, typed on a typewriter, or watched a movie on a VHS player? Join us for an intergenerational gathering where grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren can explore the past together in a barn that was built more than 175 years ago. Using items from our archives, families will share stories, try hands-on activities, play games, and discover how everyday life has changed over time. Participants will create a small memory journal to exchange and continue filling with stories and drawings at home. Enjoy a tour of our archives, test your knowledge of historical objects, and explore our 1817 historic home. This fun-filled afternoon will spark curiosity, laughter, conversation, and lasting family memories.
