The Bean Creek Valley History Center will feature special displays of historic Fayette school sports memorabilia in a building that published a newspaper that covered local events, the Fayette Review. According to the historical society, Charles Yost, the publisher of the Review, built the building, at 118 W. Main Street, around 1900. The building originally had two doors. One was an entry to the print shop, The other opened onto Ada’s Hat Shop, a millinery owned by Ada Yost, Charles’s wife. The building today contains clues as to what it was first built for. The historical society’s archive is where Yost’s press was located. The cement that held the printing press is still under the carpet, and the historical society retained the room’s original shiplap. In what was the hat shop, society volunteers enjoy large skylight in the back that it believes helped Ada view her work. Ada’s Hat Shop is now the room where the historical society holds classes, educates school children, conducts research, and helps patrons.
