Become a “habitat technician” for the day on September 15 and 16, 2026, and experience MFH’s natural, “living” class of Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek Valley. The morning begins with a complimentary museum tour from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., providing equitable access to the site’s historic resources. At 11:00 a.m., the Day of Service officially commences, blending environmental stewardship with hands-on STEAM education.

Volunteers will engage in a conservation project to remove invasive honeysuckle and plant native pollinators across two acres of land. Participants will also rotate through fun, career-technical stations to engineer nutrient-dense seed bombs, investigate historic limestone masonry, and study local wildlife adaptations. This program offers a meaningful way to give back to the land while gaining the technical skills to protect it for the next generation.
