The Tippecanoe Historical Society invites the public to an Ohio Open Doors event at Tipp City’s historic Opera House!

The Richards family will open the building for self-guided tours. Originally constructed around 1840 it was later expanded in 1867 by Sidney Chaffee. Later known as Chaffee’s Opera House, it hosted theatrical performances, concerts and community gatherings. Over the years, it also served as a roller-skating rink, graduation hall and basketball court. Visitors must be able to climb stairs to view this building.

After exploring the downtown landmark, visitors are invited downstairs to Chaffee’s Brewhouse for complimentary coffee and pastries. Members of the Historical Society will greet guests and answer questions.

Additional Considerations:
The event is free and open to all ages. No reservations are required
No elevator in this historic building. The Opera House is accessible only by narrow stairs. Chaffee Brewhouse’s hospitality is easily accessible to all.
