Support the Ohio History Fund

Good tax advice from the Wright Brothers! What does that have to do with Ohio history? Tax season is also your time to support the Ohio History Fund, a statewide competitive matching grant program for local history projects.

To help raise funds for grant awards, contribute a part of your state income tax refund to the Ohio History Fund, line 26c on your Ohio IT1040 return. Almost 10,000 tax filers helped last year and the average donation was $12. Because of those donations and help from other sources, we have more than $185,000 to award this year. We’ll announce grant recipients at our Statehood Day event, on March 2.

Since the Ohio History Fund started in 2012, it’s made 110 grants in 39 counties, totaling more than $1 million. There’s an even greater need. The Ohio History Fund has received 524 grant applications totaling $6.3 million in requests and pledges of $16.1 million in local matching support.

The Ohio History Fund is one of the few grant programs in the state solely for history and historic preservation projects. Your contribution to the Ohio History Fund tax check-off on your state return makes these in-demand grants possible.

Thank you!
