When You Visit
Most of the items in our collection are kept in a storage area onsite, but not accessible to the public. We page items from the storage area and make them available to be viewed in the Research Room. Our staff stops retrieving items from the storage area 45 minutes before closing.
When visiting, please register at the Welcome Desk as you enter the Ohio History Center before proceeding to the Archives/Library Research Room on the third floor. There is no admission charge for visiting the Archives/Library. However, please indicate that you will be visiting the Archives/Library in order to avoid being charged the price of museum admission.
Membership to the Ohio History Connection helps fund all services provided by our organization, but there is no obligation to be a member when visiting the Archives/Library.
Before receiving a library card, visitors will be asked to review and consent to the Archives/Library Collections Use Rules.
The Archives/Library is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Archives/Library will close at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday: Closed.
The Archives/Library is closed on holidays that fall on days of regular operation. Please contact us to find out how federally observed holidays may affect operation of the Archives/Library services.

Reference staff is happy to talk with you about planning your research visit. Speak to an reference archivist by phone Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Before receiving a library card and viewing materials, visitors will be asked to review and consent to the Archives/Library Collections Use Rules. Nonflash digital cameras are allowed in the Research Room following the rules for preserving fragile collections. Please know that our policies are in place to preserve collections for researchers now and in the future. You may wish to review frequently asked questions about policies for information about how our policies and procedures help preserve the collections. You can also contact us with any questions about using collections that are specific to your research goals.
