LEARN MORE ABOUT OHIOS ANCIENT PAST — FROM AN ICE AGE MASTODON TO A SACRED ROAD LINKED TO THE MOUNDS

You have two opportunities in July to attend presentations Im giving onOhios most amazing archaeological mysteries!

On July 8th, I am speaking at the Coshocton Public Library on Ohios amazing Burning Tree Mastodon, a nearly complete skeleton I helped to excavate back in 1989. Who or what killed this giant elephant-like creature and his entire species 13,000 years ago?

On July 16th, Ill be at the Columbiana Public Library speaking about the

Great Hopewell Road

a perfectly straight set of parallel embankment walls framing a road that led from the monumental Newark Earthworks an unknown distance to the southwest. Where did it lead? What was its purpose?

These programs are supported by the Ohio Humanities Council

Advance registration is required for the program on the

Great Hopewell Road

  .

For more information about each program, contact the libraries.
I hope to see you at one or both of these events!
