The McCook House Museum is featuring the talents of Susan Cook who lives in Orange Township of Carroll County. Her first connection with quilting came through observations made of a grandmother and aunt as they created colorful, heirloom quilts for their family. Susan is proficient in hand quilting and machine quilting. Thus far she has machine stitched over 100 quilts to give away to people with illnesses, people dealing with surgeries, veterans in need, and disaster victims. The comprehensive collection of quilts on display at the McCook House are all handmade. Some of them have won prestigious awards at National and International shows as well as local fairs and the State Fair. Her first competition was hosted by the National Quilter’s Association. She placed first in the Traditional Design award.
