To honor Skip Hathaway and her art program Art with Skip, Adena Mansion and Gardens and Steve Patrick are collaborating to bring you Skip into Art with Steve Patrick.
Born and raised in Chillicothe, Steve Patrick started his artistic training in his father’s lap as soon as he could hold a pencil. His dad (also Steve) was an amazing artist in his own right and was responsible for Steve catching the drawing bug early on.
Steve started formal weekly art lessons under the tutelage of local artist and family friend Skip Hathaway at age 7. Skip taught Steve the fundamentals of drawing/painting and expanded his artistic horizons through the years.
Steve’s love of art continued to be propelled at CHS in Brent Elam’s art classes and as a leader in the National Art Honor Society. At Ohio State University, Steve also graduated with a minor in Art History. In the years since, Steve has created art for Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, UWeekly newspaper, Old Capitol Brewing, Navin Elementary School in Marysville, and countless personal commissions. All the while, Steve kept in touch with his mentor Skip Hathaway (who taught art to Steve’s parents and his kids).
