Pysanky Egg Workshop
Local Pysanky Egg artist Heather Moore and the Ohio History Connection invite you to partake in this unique and historic art form through a workshop held in Ohio Village.
This event will serve as an opening ceremony for Ohio Open Doors in Painesville.
The program of Open Doors will be launched at Lake Erie College in historic College Hall. Participants will receive a program with scheduled Open Door events between Sept 9-18th. Starting with the history of Lake Erie College, aka, Lake Erie Female Seminary founded in 1856 and housed in a National Register historic site, and then move to the Susan B. Anthony exhibit and women’s rights walkway located in front of College Hall. In addition to the free event on Sept 9th, participants can purchase a ticket to attend a day long experience that includes a Painesville Underground Railroad and Suffrage Site Tour, a short lecture on Painesville history and a visit with an historical interpreter.
During the tour guests will visit the Mathews House on the Lake Erie College campus, an underground railroad site and then into the Painesville Square to visit the Painesville Methodist Church that hosted the 1885 Ohio Women’s Suffrage Assoc. Convention, the Congregationalist Church a site of an anti-abolitionist riot when Theodore Weld and Frederick Douglass came to speak, and more.
